![]() Things like movies and video games take companies and years to make and even ones that only sell low amounts or are relatively unknown still only sell at reasonable costs. They deserve to get good money for the design of really good software, but on the flip side it's completely absurd to expect your average consumer who makes no money off of the software to pay $300 for a photo editing software or DAW. ![]() They're priced that way because it lets the companies make absolute bank when a) every very successful person who uses them pays full price for everything without question and maybe even more importantly b) places like studios/schools/businesses buy licenses in bulk. Things like editing software, digital design software, DJ software, DAW software, and all of the addons/plugins associated with those things are always absurdly priced. ![]() Any artistic job gets kind of fucked by this.
